vCISO + Program Building
Senior security leadership, without the full-time hire.
A virtual CISO engagement that owns strategy, risk, compliance, and culture, and stays accountable for the results. Built for organizations that need executive-grade security direction and a program their own team can run.
At a glance
- Strategy, roadmaps, and board reporting
- Risk and cyber insurance readiness
- Policy, control, and compliance alignment
- Awareness, phishing, and behavior metrics
Who it's for
Built for teams like yours.
Organizations without a full-time CISO that still answer to regulators, auditors, boards, or cyber insurers.
Growing companies whose security program has not kept pace with customers asking for SOC 2, HIPAA, or vendor questionnaires.
IT leaders who need a senior partner to set direction, own the roadmap, and speak to executives in business terms.
What's included
Deliverables that do work.
Every engagement is scoped from these building blocks. Combine the ones you need.
Security Strategy & Roadmap
A prioritized, budgeted plan tied to business risk, reviewed quarterly and adjusted as the organization changes.
Board & Executive Reporting
Plain-language risk reporting, metrics that matter, and preparation for board, audit committee, and investor conversations.
Risk & Insurance Readiness
A living risk register, treatment decisions, and the controls evidence cyber insurers now require at renewal.
Policy & Control Framework
Policies people actually follow, mapped to the frameworks your customers and regulators expect.
Compliance Alignment
Gap assessments and remediation planning for HIPAA, FERPA, SOC 2, PCI DSS, CIS Controls, NIST, and ISO 27001.
Security Awareness & Culture
Role-based training, phishing simulations, and behavior metrics that show whether the culture is improving.
How it works
Four moves, start to finish.
Baseline
Assess the current program against the framework that fits your obligations, and interview the people who live with the results.
Prioritize
Agree on the risks that matter, the quick wins, and a roadmap the budget can actually support.
Operate
Run the program on a steady cadence: risk reviews, vendor decisions, policy updates, metrics, and executive reporting.
Mature
Raise maturity deliberately, prepare for audits and renewals, and hand your team a program it can sustain.

FAQ
Questions about security leadership.
How is a vCISO different from a security consultant?
A consultant delivers a project and leaves. A vCISO owns the program on an ongoing basis: direction, decisions, reporting, and accountability for progress. We also do project work, but leadership engagements are about continuity.
How much of your time do we get?
It depends on the tier. Focused discovery is a defined project. Ongoing advisory is typically a set number of days per month with a standing cadence. Embedded leadership means a senior advisor is in your meetings, on your roadmap, and part of your leadership team.
Can you work with our existing IT or MSP?
Yes, and we prefer it. We set direction and verify outcomes while your internal team or managed service provider does the day-to-day operations.
Do you help with compliance certifications?
We run gap assessments, build the control set, prepare evidence, and manage the audit relationship for SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and similar programs. We do not issue certifications ourselves, which keeps our advice independent.
